Home Match This Saturday(3/23/13) Cape Fear vs. Augusta, GA 2 P.M. at Flytrap Downs.

The Cape Fear Rugby Club, fresh off their recent road win return home to take on division rival Augusta RFC this Saturday at 2 PM on the home pitch at Flytrap Downs.  This is a pivotal match in the season as Cape Fear is set up for a trip to South Playoffs if they are able to win out the remaining games on the schedule.  It should be a great day of Rugby and we look forward to seeing everyone out a the pitch this weekend.

Fear Wins Road Matrix Match vs. Atlanta Renegades

Fear traveled to Atlanta, GA this past Saturday with 15 players and beat the Renegades B in a tough Division II Matrix Match. Fear scored several first half trys and were up by 12 points at half and then put in two more trys in the second half. Atlanta put in two trys late in the game to make the score, Atlanta 27 and Fear 31. Fear held them off for the last five minutes to secured a big road win!

Man of the match honors went to rookie “Fast Eddie” Wilson. Thanks to Jason Gruner for organizing the hotel rooms. A huge thank you to Jim Lea for a classic after match dinner, we all appreciated it greatly!

It was an honor to play on the field with all of you this past weekend. Iron-man rugby at its best! For those of you that could not make the trip, oh well….. you missed a good day!

Practice Times for December and Travel Plans for Grunk 7′s in Columbia, SC December 8th

We will continue playing touch through December on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:15 at Flytrap and we are planning on taking a team to the Grunk 7′s in Columbia, SC the weekend of December 8th.  We will also be holding our informal Christmas Party the night of the 8th where we will celebrate our tournament victory back in Wilmington.

August Practice Schedule, New Players Welcome

For the month of August we will be holding skill and fitness session every Tuesday and Thursday starting at 6:15 at our home pitch, Flytrap Downs.  This is the perfect time to come out for new players to learn the basics of the game of Rugby and get a good feel for what the sport is all about.

Took a squad up to Raleigh over the weekend, decent effort by all with a few bright spots including a couple of great runs by Austin and some much improved play from Chris Love on the wing. We’ll be playing touch on Tuesday and Thursday for anyone who wants to come out and get a run in.

Cape Fear vs Marchwood Dolphins

Cape Fear RFC will, once again, be hosting the Marchwood Dolphins this coming Wednesday, May 9th. The match will be held at Flytrap Downs and KO is scheduled for 6pm. There wil be a post match social, location is still TBD.

If you’re interested in playing please come out to the next few trainings. We will be out at Flytrap on Tues/Thurs from 6:30 to dusk/dark. If you’d just like to watch some great rugby come on out and help support your local rugby club! We hope to see you all next Wednesday, May 9th!

Last Home Match of the Season!

Your Cape Fear RFC will be taking on the Charleston Outlaws this Saturday, March 31st, at Noon! The match will be followed up with UNCW playing Charleston’s 2nd side. Players need to be at the pitch by 10:30am.

There will be a 50-50 raffle, where the winner receives half the proceeds and the rest comes back to CFRFC. We will also be raffling off our old set of jerseys for anyone who is interested. Be sure to bring your greenbacks to get in on the action!

UPDATED: 1st Annual Cape Fear RFC Golf Tournament

UPDATE: Due to inclement weather the golf pro at Topsail Greens canceled our tournament this morning. As of now we are currently slated to tee-off tomorrow morning, 3/4. All other details remain the same.

On Saturday, March 3rd we will have the 1st Annual Cape Fear RFC Golf Tournament. It will be held at Topsail Greens in Hampstead, NC. Cost will be $40 per player. We will be playing in teams of 4, and playing a best ball/superball golf tournament. Starting time will be between 8:00am -9:00am. There will also be a, $10 buy-in, closest to the pin on a par 3.

We need at least 24 players to run this tournament. Save the date and come support Cape Fear Rugby by playing some golf!! Please invite your friends and family to come play as well!

CIPP Registration

02/08/12

All players must be CIPP registered with USA Rugby in order to play in a matrix (league) match. The rest of our matches for the season are matrix matches, so you are required to get CIPP’d. Follow the link below to the membership registration page.

Membership Registration

Click on the “Create/Renew Individual Membership” link and follow the instructions. When registering, our full club name is Cape Fear Rugby Football Club. This must be done before our match this Saturday. Please do it no later than midnight Friday evening.
