Wilmington is becoming a rugby hotbed

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Rugby-wise, things are definitely on the upswing at both the collegiate and youth levels in the Wilmington area, and the best is yet to come. Fear takes 2nd at Savannah 15’s

After battling injuries, hangovers, and sun burn, Fear finished the Savannah tourney at 2nd place with a tough loss to Columbia Old Grey in the finals. Fear implemented their efficient strategy of “warm up as you play the first 5 minutes.” Columbia scored and Fear answered right back with a sneaky NotBender try. In the second half Columbia regrouped and implemented an effective pick and go strategy. They capitalized on Fear’s misfortunes, scoring two more tries and Fear couldn’t quite answer back. Fear Takes 1st at Lejeune 15’s Tournament

Mid 20’s to 30’s and a relentless wind made for a cold day in Camp Lejeune. Duke Grads dropped out of the tournament leaving Cherry Point, Clayton, Camp Lejeune, and Cape Fear left to vie for the gold. Both, Clayton and Fear, went into the final match of the day with a record of 2-0 for the day. Clayton came out strong and had Fear fighting off their heels in the first part of the half.
